Dame Nellie Melba Kindergarten
Dame Nellie Melba Kindergarten (DNMK) provides a sessional and extended hours kindergarten experience for three, four and five-year-olds which is stimulating, nurturing, educational and fun.
DNMK was established in 1915 with opera singer Dame Nellie Melba as patron. The kindergarten is set in a leafy green oasis in Richmond, Victoria. It provides wide open space for children of the local community who commonly live in smaller homes and apartments which often go hand-in-hand with inner city living.
DNMK blends old-world charm with a progressive educational program that inspires and excites young minds, and lays the foundation for future learning. DNMK provides two 3/4 year-old groups, two 4/5 year-old Kindergarten groups, an Extended Hours Program for 3-5 year-olds, and a Playgroup, and has over 100 families utilising the centre.
DNMK understands that children take their play very seriously and that play is the way children learn. The kindergarten programs acknowledge the uniqueness of each child, incorporates their individual interests and allows them to learn at their own pace. Staff are committed to the happiness, development and education of the individual child and provide a safe and caring yet stimulating and challenging environment for children to explore and learn through play.
The DNMK year is off to a great start with the return of our much-loved staff and the addition of our new co-ordinator, Patricia Reilly. Have a look at our latest newsletter.
